Bulls Win Game 1 at Gwinnett 3-0
Bras Hutson threw a complete game 4 hit shutout to help lead the Bulls to a 1-0 series lead.
With a heat index of 102 degrees at first pitch, fans and player were anything but cool at Cool Ray Field in Gwinnett County Friday night. Along with the temperatures, Bulls ace right-hander Brad Hutson, in what could be his final appearance in a Bulls uniform, was on fire, tossing a complete game shutout as the Bulls won game one of the SBL Championship Series Final 3-0.
“I am so proud of Hutty,” said Bulls head coach Todd Pratt. “He left it all on the field for us tonight and threw one heck of a game.”
Brad allowed only four hits and struck out eight batters with three walks in what proved to be a difficult to determine strike zone.
The Bulls jumped out early after lead-off hitter Brett Wright was hit by a pitch, and then Terrell Jones popped a lazy fly ball that was dropped by the Tides and got Wright across the dish. Later, Wright led off with a standup double, and scored again as Christian Glisson drove him in with a sacrifice ball.
Glisson did his part again in the eight with a fielders choice, followed by Brian York with a base knock. Slugger Terrell Jones drove in the Bulls catcher for the final run.
Game two in the best of three series will be Saturday, at the Bulls home field in Douglasville with a first pitch time of 4 p.m. Game three, if needed will immediately follow.
